Cavafy Archive

The Cavafy Archive is one of the three major collections accumulated at the Onassis Library. The collection consists of more than 4.600 manuscripts and personal items of the poet and it was acquired by the Onassis Foundation at the end of 2012. Its mission is the protection of the physical archive, the creation of the necessary conditions to ensure its openness and accessibility to researchers and to the wider public and to promote Cavafy’s work and the international appeal of Cavafy’s poetry. To this end and, further to the everyday tasks for the accomplishment of the aforesaid, the academic and administrative staff of the Cavafy Archive organizes a series of educational and cultural events in Greece and abroad addressed to children and adults and tailored for both beginners and the already knowledgeable, opening new ways of approaching the work of the Alexandrian poet.
